Bing Bing!

bing logo 150x150 Bing Bing! You’ve probably all heard of Bing by now.  Microsoft’s re-born search engine and tools.

Have you checked your web stats?  Have you noticed the usage of Bing as a source of referrals increasing?  I have, and it will increase much more over the next three months.

Microsoft are about to start a 3 Billion dollar advertising campaign, of which 3 million will be spent on advertising Bing on prime time UK television.

I can tell you now that when Emmerdale Farm or Coronation Street starts, my mums ears are peeled all the way through.  If she sees an advert for Bing during the break, she will use it.

Bing will really start to gain a bigger foothold in the near future (if it can hold on to that foothold for the long haul is a different story).

So – what should you do to become friends with The Bing?  – Sign up for Bing Webmaster Tools.  It’s in essence the same as Google Webmaster Tools – with some subtle differences.

Take a look and keep an eye on your web useage stats over the next few months and I think you’ll see a lot more from Bing.

Thanks for the tip Kev. I saw one of those ads on tv over the weekend so the campaign has started.

  2. I was recently reading that although google has a lot of ‘no follow’ links bing and others search engines don’t. Is this true Kev? Thanks mate, sites looking great. Richy

    • My understanding Richy is that Bing and the others respects “nofollow” as regards not counting the link in their ranking, but it is not proven whether or not Bing follows the link out of the site.

      Cheers Kev

  3. Ah I see thanks Kev :-)
